Kaliningrad Railway is looking into launching of a train for 40-foot containers from the Port of Gdansk (Poland) to Moscow and other regions of Russia via the Kaliningrad Region, according to Victor Golomolzin, head of Kaliningrad Railway.
This project can become an alternative to transportation of containerized cargo delivered to Gdansk from China and transported by feeder lines to Ust-Luga and then by motor transport to distribution centers in Russia, he added. Location of break-of-gauge points is under consideration.
