Bombardier Transportation has become the first rail manufacturer and maintainer in Australia to receive certification under Asset Management Accreditation Standard (ISO 55001). Risk management company SAI Global awarded the standard to Bombardier’s Adelaide Maintenance Facility in South Australia for the maintenance practices deployed across the Adelaide 3000 and 4000 Class electrical multiple unit (EMU) fleets. The Adelaide Maintenance Facility is also the first Bombardier site globally to achieve this status.
ISO 55001 is an internationally recognised standard within the asset management family which sets out the requirements and specifications for integrated and effective fleet management systems. Bombardier has been following the development of the Asset Management Accreditation Standard (ISO 55001) over the past two years, and was an active participant in the assessment and provisioning processes.
“The audit identified that the organisation has a very mature and comprehensive asset management [system]. It appears to meet the organisation’s strategic intent of providing maximum availability of the asset at minimum cost. This robust system has been a key enabler in providing the framework to deliver its vision,” said Geoff Tuazon from SAI Global.
