EIB has under appraisal the upgrade of the signalling system on four lines of the London Underground network. The total values of the contract is more than EUR 2.5 billion, of which, EIB finance is EUR 581 million.
The project primarily involves renewal of the communication and control system on parts of the London Underground. The project is expected to improve the performance of one of the largest underground systems in Europe and will therefore have a positive impact on pollution, safety, public transport reliability and thus contribute to a better environment and urban landscape.
