Construction of the first station platform Cudgegong Road, as part of Sydney Metro project has started. The frame of the first platform is in place at Cudgegong Road – one of 31 metro stations along the 65 km route. The Cudgegong Road Station platform is 187m long and 9m wide and will service a train every four minutes in the peak. The station will also have 1,000 commuter car parking spaces.
The construction milestone comes as two shortlisted consortia are invited to tender to build the twin metro tunnels under Sydney Harbour. They are:
• Ferrovial, Acciona and BAM JV; and
• John Holland, CPB and Ghella JV.
The NSW Government expects to award the contract to build the tunnels around the middle of next year.
