Serbia has applied for financing under the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF), funded by the EU, for the reconstruction of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad railway. The rail line reconstruction, one of the most important infrastructure projects in Serbia, has been estimated at 195 million euro, the Serbian Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure said.
“According to preliminary information, there is a possibility to secure investment from a WBIF grant to cover 50% of the total amount”. The final decision will be announced by the end of the year, the ministry added. The remaining funds will be provided through a loan from a European bank.
