The completion of the project on the expansion of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) and the Trans-Siberian Railway (Transsib) has been postponed from 2018 to 2019, Oleg Belozerov , President of Russian Railways, said on attending the SPIEF (St. Petersburg International Economic Forum), IAA PortNews informs.
RUB 111 billion (USD 1.7 billion) will be spent for the project in 2016 and the work under the project will intensify in 2017.
Russian Federation Government approved the program on expansion of the BAM and Transsib capacity in 2013. Initial plan on expansion of their annual capacity up to 55 mln t by 2018 was later adjusted to 75 mln t. The resources for the project implementation are allocated from the National Welfare Fund.
