India’s Dedicated Freight Corridor Corp (DFCCIL) has awarded Larsen & Toubro and Instalaciones Inabensa (Spain) consortium a Rs 847 crore (USD 1.3 billion) contract for the electrification of Mughalsarai- New Bhaupur section, 417 km, on Eastern DFC. This section will be designed for 2×25 kV traction power system with overhead equipment suitable for dedicated freight transport.
The works include the construction of 7 traction substations, 18 switching stations, 881 track km of overhead equipment, SCADA and electrical and mechanical works along with supply of all associated equipment.
This project is funded by World Bank and is part of the 1856 km Eastern DFC proposed between Sahnewal (Ludhiana) and Dankuni (Near Kolkata) via Mughalsarai.
The Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor with a route length of 1856 km consists of two distinct segments: an electrified double-track section of 1409 km between Dankuni and Khurja and an electrified single-track segment of 447 km between Ludhiana, Khurja and Dadri.
