Vehicle producer BYD’s chairman Wang Chuanfu told a shareholders meeting that the company plans to develop light rail systems powered by electricity in the second, third and fourth tier cities of China over the next five years.
BYD is researching light rail systems, including sections for train integration, interior, electrical communication, traction systems, integrated technical and testing centers.
The company estimates that its operating income this year will exceed 100 billion yuan (13 bn euros). The total revenue for 2015 was 77.6 billion yuan (10.3 bn euros).
