During a meeting with China Railway Corp Chairman of the Board Li Changjin, the president of Russian Railways, Oleg Belozerov, said that the engineering surveys needed for the preparation of Moscow-Kazan high-speed rail documentation should be completed in June 2016 and that meeting the deadlines was one of the key factors in implementing the project, along with the quality of the work.
Acording to Li Changjin, “Chinese experts would make every effort to ensure that work was completed on schedule.”
For the project, last year, a Russian-Chinese consortium involving Mosgiprotrans, Nizhegorodmetroproekt and the China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co. signed a contract to design the Moscow – Kazan high-speed railway.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation on railway transportation, in particular, Chinese participation in implementing the Moscow – Kazan high-speed rail project, which is a top priority for Russian Railways.
“We consider this project to be a highly important stage in developing the Moscow – Beijing high-speed corridor,” Belozerov said.
In May 2015, a memorandum of cooperation on the construction of the high-speed line was signed by China and Russia. The length of Moscow – Kazan HSR is 770 km, designed for a maximum speed of 400 kmph.
