Konkan Railways Corporation Limited (KRCL) has abandoned its Sky bus project, a suspended railway system, because it was not considered “commercially viable”. The project was valued at Rs 1-1.5 billion (13-19.8 million euros). The decision was reached after conducting a detailed study.
The prototype of the Sky Bus project, which was installed near the Margao Railway Station, is currently being dismantled.
Instead, the KRCL has been concentrating on increasing the number of trains on the existing routes in the state. The corporation also suggested that the Goa government can come up with a proposal of a metro system for the coastal state. KRCL has already submitted a proposal to the Goa government to link the upcoming Greenfield Mopa airport to the rail services through a dedicated line.
