South Korean vehicle manufacturer Hyunday Rotem selected Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) as the supplier of traction motors for the new 100% low-floor trams in Izmir and Antalya (Turkey). The vehicles are manufactured locally in Adapazari by Eurotem, a joint enterprise between Hyunday Rotem and the Turkish company Tüvasaş. The first vehicles will be delivered soon.
The newly developed low-floor vehicle by Hyundai Rotem has an energy storage for the operation along off-wire route sections. TSA’s compact motors are optimized for this concept.
Two new lines will be opened in Izmir: Konak Line and Karşiyaka Line. In Antalya the Antray Light Rail route was extended to the airport on the occasion of the Expo 2016.
