This year, China Railway Corp has planned to launch 45 new rail projects that involves a 3200 km total length of new lines, of which 1300 km are high-speed lines.
Passenger lines from Guiyang to Nanning, from Zhongwei to Lanzhou and from Xuzhou to Lianyungang are Among the 45 new lines.
Last year, China invested CNY 824 billion (USD 127 billion) on railway projects that involved the construction of 9531 km of new lines, which 3306 km were high-speed lines.
In Aprili, China’s Vice Premier Ma Kai announced that his country will continue a “relatively large” scale of railway investment in the next five years.
China has to accomplish the target of investing this year more than 800 billion yuan (USD 123.7 billion) in railway projects, especially in Central and Western regions.
China has 121,000 km of railway lines in operation, of which 19,000 km are high-speed lines. This represents 60% of world’s HSR network.
