Slovenia Infrastructure Minister Peter Gašperšič has joined his counterparts from Poland, Slovakia and Hungary in signing a letter of intent on the establishment of a rail freight corridor running from the port of Koper in Slovenia to Polish industrial centres.
The planned rail freight corridor 11 roughly follows the ancient trade route between the Baltic Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, called the Amber Road.
In the letter of intent, the four ministers emphasise the importance of development of rail cargo service on the route from Koper, through western Hungary to Slovakian and Polish industrial centres.
All the planned connections represent additional incentive for Slovenia to continue to develop services in Luka Koper and additional boost to facilitated development of railway infrastructure in the country, the the Infrastructure Ministry in Slovenia added.
