The Lithuanian State Audit Office and the Public Procurement Office agreed to monitor jointly the implementation of the railway project Rail Baltica. The audit and procurement authorities also agreed that the Public Procurement Office would have its representatives in a joint task force of auditors from the Baltic countries that will evaluate Rail Baltica’s risks.
Among the key risk factors are the absence of maintenance and repairs infrastructure, RB Rail’s activities and environmental issues.
In January, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia agreed to set up a joint task force of auditors to assess the project’s risk factors and monitor the activities of the joint venture established for the implementation of the project. The auditors will hold their first meeting in Vilnius in June.
