Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Metrolinx have released a Request for Proposals to companies shortlisted to design, build, finance and maintain the Finch West Light Rail Tranzit (LRT) project.
The teams were selected based on criteria identified in the Request for Qualifications process that began in September 2015. Selection criteria included construction capability, experience, and financial capacity to deliver a project of this size and complexity.
The shortlisted teams are Humber Valley Transit Partners, Mosaic Transit Group and FACT Partners.
Teams will spend most of 2016 preparing proposals that will detail how they will design, build and finance the project, as well as how they will maintain the LRT system for a 30-year period.
The LRT project include 11 kilometres of new line between Humber College and the new Finch West metrou station on the Toronto-York Spadina Metro Extension, 16 surface stops, a below-grade terminus stop at Humber College, and an underground
interchange station (Keele Street and Finch Avenue West) at the TTC’s Finch West
metrou station. In addition, the project envisages a maintenance and storage facility for the light rail vehicles and other required components, such as trackworks, signaling, communications, and public realm infrastructure.
Early works will begin in 2016, with the start of major construction expected in 2017. The project must be completed in 2021.
