EMEF S.A. has signed the contract for the maintenance of the Metro do Porto Eurotram vehicles for a total of EUR 10.6 million as the successful bidder in the international public tender in which other rail multinationals also participated.
The Metro do Porto Eurotram vehicles will be the object of specialised maintenance by EMEF – Empresa de Manutenção de Equipamento Ferroviário S.A., which will start in 2016 and cover 35 vehicles of the Metro do Porto Eurotram fleet, with the possibility of including a further 5 vehicles.

“The selection of the bid submitted by EMEF in this international public tender is further proof of the capacity and competence of the specialised services this company offers in the most competitive markets where the largest rail multinationals operate. After having secured the contract for the remodelling of the CP Alfa Pendular trains, this new project confirms that EMEF possesses the capabilities to compete in the international market, thus consolidating the competences of Portuguese industry in the field of transport,” said Castanho Ribeiro, EMEF’s Director-General.
