Russian Railways intends to purchase 507 locomotives in 2016, the value of the investment being estimated at RUB 69 billion (USD 877 million), TASS reports.
Part of the plan, RZD will buy 257 electric locomotives and 250 diesel locomotives. To that end, the company will purchase 3ES10 Granit mainline freight electric locomotives (15), 2ESK Ermak AC freight electric locomotives (20), 3ES5K AC freight electric locomotives (78), 2ES6 Sinara DC freight electric locomotives (86), 3ES4K DC freight electric locomotives (15), 2TE25A Vityaz AC-driven freight electric locomotives (4), 2TE25KM freight diesel locomotives (100), 2TE116U freight diesel locomotives (6), 3TE116U freight diesel locomotives (1), 2TE116UD freight diesel locomotives (6), GT1h mainline gas turbine locomotive (1).
The company is also to buy 4 units of EP20 Olymp passenger electric locomotives, 35 EP2K DC passenger electric locomotives, 4 EP1M AC passenger electric locomotives, and 15 TEP70BS passenger diesel locomotives.
The shunting locomotive fleet is to be replaced by 80 TEM18DM, 26 units of TEM14, and 1 TEM9H. RZD would also like to renew the locomotive fleet at the Sakhalin Peninsula’s narrow-gauge railways and buy 10 TG16M mainline diesel locomotives.
