The Chinese side confirmed the Silk Road Fund will be one of main investors into the Moscow – Kazan high speed railway, a representative of the Russian Railways said after the Sino-Russian working group meeting, TASS reports.
“The Russian side handed over proposals on the corporate and legal format of the joint venture to Chinese colleagues. Chinese colleagues confirmed they see the Silk Road Fund as one of principal investors,” he said.
Russia and China plan to invest more than 1 trillion rubles (USD 15 billion) into building a high-speed railway between Moscow and Kazan, which is planned to be finished in 2020.
“We have already agreed on the parameters of joint funding for the construction of a high-speed route between Moscow and Kazan, and the amount of investment to be provided by our Chinese partners and us will exceed 1 trillion rubles,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview to TASS, at the begining of September.
According to the vice-president of RZD, Alexander Misharin, the construction of the railway might start in 2016.
The memorandum of cooperation on the construction of the high-speed line Moscow-Kazan was signed by China and Russia in May 2015.
