Plans have been made to offer rapid travels by train along the route Moscow-Minsk-Berlin in 2016, Vadim Morozov, First Vice President of OAO Russian Railways, said during the second Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in Sochi.
According to the Russian Railways representative, the trains will travel as fast as 160kmph. The speed can be potentially increased up to 200kmph. Russian Railways has ordered Talgo trains made for the project. The trains will be able to switch between narrow and wide rail tracks automatically. As a result, the travel time between Moscow and Berlin will be reduced by six hours, BelTA agency informs.
