New Sofia metro station to increase daily commuter numbers

sofia-metro-bulgariaThe number of commuters using the underground railway system in Sofia are expected to increase by 25,000 a day when the new Vitosha Station opens next year, city mayor Yordanka Fandakova said, quted by Novinite.
The station is being built at the intersection of Tcherni Vrah Boulevard and Srebarna Street in Sofia’s southern Lozenets neighbourhood. It lies at the southward end of an extension to the Blue Line of Sofia metro.
The total cost of the new segment will amount to BGN 42.3 million (EUR 21.6 million), or BGN 16.6 M per kilometer (EUR 8.5 million).
Sofia Metro curently carries about 320,000 commuters a day.
