The European Commission has approved an investment of more than EUR 37 million from the Cohesion Fund to revitalise the railway line n°272 from Kluczbork to Poznań Główny on the Kluczbork – Ostrzeszów section. The line, which connects the Opolskie and the Wielkopolskie regions, will be modernised on a length of 60 km. The investments will entail renovating or upgrading track subgrade and structures, turnouts, platforms, control-command systems, vehicular and pedestrian crossings as well as components of the overhead contact line. The project is expected to be finalised by end-2015. “This investment on the railway line in the Opolskie and Wielkopolskie regions shows how Regional Policy contributes to improving the mobility of citizens, ensuring safe, sustainable and environmentally friendly travel conditions,” Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Creţu said.
