CSX announced the opening of a new intermodal terminal in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield near Montreal, Quebec. The facility expands CSX’s intermodal network capacity and offers Canadian customers domestic and international service that connects with the railroad’s 21,000 mile network in the United States.
The USD 100 million terminal includes equipment to capitalize on the efficiency and environmental benefits of intermodal rail transportation, such as three state-of-the-art rubber-tire gantry cranes – the first of their kind at an Eastern Canadian intermodal facility.
The terminal has a capacity for 100,000 loads and trains that are serving the new terminal will also connect through the Northwest Ohio intermodal hub, offering efficient access to markets across the United States and Canada.
