In the framework of the Kazakh-Chinese Business Council in Astana, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy signed two documents with the Chinese railways. They are designed to further realize the transit potential of Kazakhstan.
The first agreement outlines the main directions of cooperation between KTZ and Chinese Railways. The document envisages that the railway administrations will jointly develop freight along China – Europe and China – Central Asia transport corridorsbthat pass through the territory of Kazakhstan.
The second document was the agreement between a subsidiary of KTZ, JSC KTZ-Express, and Lianyungang Port to strengthen and improve the international traffic through the new Eurasian continental transport corridor. Using to the mechanisms and instruments set forth in the document, the sides intend to increase the traffic flow to 250,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent) in 2015.
