Swietelsky secures major contract in Croatia

Swietelsky AG has secured a significant contract from Croatian State Railways HŽ Infrastruktura, valued at approximately EUR 189 million. 

The contract involves the comprehensive modernisation of the the railway line between Kloštar – Čakovec (R201 and R202 railway lines), with work set to commence in April 2025. The construction phase is expected to last for 40 months, with completion scheduled for summer 2028.

The contract encompasses a wide range of work to renovate 86.5 kilometres of open railway line, along with the refurbishment of eight stations and seven stops. As part of the modernisation, Swietelsky will install a formation protective layer along the entire route.

This work will be carried out using the company’s advanced formation rehabilitation machine, the PM 1000 URM, alongside the SMD 80 track renewal machine. Notably, mechanical installation will take place in a continuous action process, ensuring efficient and time-saving construction progress.
