Wabtec Corporation has announced an agreement to supply its KinetiX Inspection Technologies to Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français (SNCF) Voyageurs. This order aims to enhance the safety, efficiency, and reliability of France’s national rail network.
“SNCF Voyageurs is a forward-thinking industry leader transforming its transit system by equipping its operations team with cutting-edge inspection technologies,” said Roopa Shenoy, Senior Director, Product Manager for Wabtec’s KinetiX. “As one of Europe’s busiest rail networks, SNCF relies on us to support efficient, reliable, and safe service. The KinetiX systems provide a significant performance boost, the result of a strong collaborative relationship between Wabtec and the Materials Department of SNCF Voyageurs.”
The agreement builds on the existing use of KinetiX Systems at 13 SNCF Technicentres across France, where they are already deployed for axle maintenance and acoustic bearing monitoring. The new order will introduce TreadView, WheelView, and BrakeView inspection systems, offering real-time, automated, contactless monitoring of the SNCF Voyageurs fleet. Wabtec will provide dedicated support throughout the implementation, from installation to ongoing maintenance.
The KinetiX Inspection Technologies suite is designed to revolutionise the monitoring of rail assets. The wayside systems assess the condition of critical components, including wheels, brakes, bearings, air hoses, pantographs, and cross keys, delivering a comprehensive overview of a train’s operational health. By integrating machine vision, laser scanning, acoustic and thermal monitoring, remote sensing, load analysis, and AI-driven analytics, the technology automates inspection processes, improving asset availability and lifespan while significantly reducing operational costs. KinetiX inspections can be conducted while trains are in motion, operating at line speeds of up to 120 km/h.
