PKP SA announces tenders for the Częstochowa Główna station

On December 11, 2024, Polskie Koleje Państwowe SA announced tender procedures covering the selection of a construction contractor and a contract engineer supervising the Częstochowa Główna station investment.

The project involves the construction of a complex of two facilities – a railway station and a bus terminal, which will constitute an integral part of the intermodal hub, which will enable the service of an increasing number of passengers. Thanks to the investment, passengers will be able to use long-distance, regional and city transport in one place.

“According to statistics from the Office of Rail Transport, in 2023 alone, 3.69 million passengers used the Częstochowa station, which is 300,000 more than in the previous year (3.39 million). Money for PKP station investments follows the passenger,” says Paweł Lisiewicz, Member of the PKP SA Management Board for Development and Investments.

The comprehensive investment includes the reconstruction of the bus terminal, as well as the roundabout located near the station, which will enable its connection to the public road network. With passenger safety in mind, the entrance zone to the station will be moved in order to separate the pedestrian and vehicle traffic zones resulting from the planned introduction of buses in the immediate vicinity of the PKP station.

The modern PKP Częstochowa Główna railway station will be equipped with an innovative PSIM platform integrating and enabling comprehensive management of security systems, building automation, communication and transport. The building will also be adapted to the needs of new tenants, which includes providing an appropriate electrical connection or water and sewage installations, which are insufficient in the current building. The new project also includes adapting the property to current European requirements for people with limited mobility, visually impaired and hearing impaired.

In November 2024, as a result of the qualification procedure, the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy placed the investment on the list of projects identified for financing from the EU program FEnIKS 2021-2027. The total cost of the investment will be confirmed and announced after the construction contractor is selected in the tender procedure.
