New rolling stock for Royal Railway Cambodia

The Royal Railway Cambodia has received 60 new flat wagons from China which will help company to strengthen its freight service capacities.

The flat wagons arrived at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port on December 1st and were successfully unloaded on December 2nd, 2024.

Before entering service, the wagons will undergo a comprehensive brake test system check to ensure operational safety. Following this quick safety protocol, they will be ready for immediate deployment, seamlessly integrating into Royal Railway’s operations to support industries nationwide.

The rolling stock is part of a contract for the supply of 221 new flat wagons. The next batch, comprising 35 wagons, is expected to arrive by the end of December 2024, followed by another shipment of 45 wagons scheduled for January 2025. The remaining wagons will arrive in subsequent months, further strengthening Royal Railway’s capacity to support Cambodia’s growing logistics needs.

The new flat wagons are designed to handle a diverse range of cargo, including containers, heavy machinery, construction materials, and more.

The rolling stock are part of Royal Railway’s commitment to providing efficient and reliable rail freight services and reliable logistics solutions throughout Cambodia.

The addition of these 60 wagons reflects our dedication to providing high-quality freight services and reinforces our role in Cambodia’s economic development. These wagons will not only increase our capacity but also improve the efficiency of our logistics operations,” John Guiry, CEO of Royal Railway said.

The rolling stock procurement is part of CEO of Royal Group’s strategic investment plan to enhance Royal Railway’s fleet and capabilities. With this latest delivery, the company continues to position itself as a key player in Cambodia’s logistics sector, driving connectivity and supporting the nation’s infrastructure growth.

The company has also introduced into operation the Kiha trains from Japan, offering passengers a modern and comfortable travel experience between Phnom Penh and popular destinations like Sihanoukville, Kampot, and Kep.

The Kiha trains offer a significant upgrade in passenger comfort compared to traditional options. Passengers can expect modern and spacious interiors, comfortable seating, air conditioning.

In addition, on November 7, 2024, Royal Railway Cambodia received two newly purchased locomotives from India which will enhance the operational efficiency and expand transport capacity throughout Cambodia’s railway network. The locomotives arrived at Sihanoukville Port.

The new locomotives are designed to meet the demands of Cambodia’s growing rail network, providing additional horsepower and fuel efficiency to support increased cargo and passenger transport. This investment is part of Royal Railway’s long-term vision to enhance Cambodia’s connectivity and infrastructure, enabling faster and more sustainable transportation options across the country.
