ÖBB announces that it has to pause some Nightjet lines due to extensive construction work.
Despite intensive efforts by the railways involved, some Nightjet connections cannot be offered between August 12 and October 25, 2024, due to extensive construction work in Germany and France.
ÖBB Nightjet lines affected
- Vienna – Paris and Berlin – Paris/Brussels affected
- The Vienna – Brussels connection runs without restrictions
- From the end of October all lines will be running as scheduled again
From October 28, all lines will be offered again as scheduled.
The Vienna – Brussels connection runs continuously as scheduled 3 times a week.
The Nightjet partners ÖBB, DB, SNCF, NMBS-SNCB have consistently expanded the European Nightjet network in recent years.
“The temporary impact of construction sites in France and Germany is all the more regrettable. In order to avoid unexpected train cancellations, delays and inconveniences for our customers, we unfortunately have to temporarily suspend the operation of some lines,” ÖBB says.
No tickets have yet been sold for the affected trains.
For passengers who want to travel from Vienna to Paris in a climate-friendly way, there are alternatives in daytime traffic or with the Nightjet to Brussels and then with the Eurostar to Paris.
From the end of October, the construction site situation should be consolidated so that we can once again offer our passengers a stable service.
Starting from December 11, 2023, the night train alliance of DB, ÖBB, NMBS/SNCB and SNCF is offering night train service from Berlin to Brussels and Paris.
The Nightjet (NJ) usually runs three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with trains return from Paris and Brussels to Berlin on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
