Alpha Trains has ordered 15 additional Vectron locomotives from Siemens Mobility, exercising an option under the existing framework agreement signed in November 2021.
The new Vectron MS and AC locomotives with a maximum power of 6.4 megawatts and a top speed of 200 km/h complement the existing Alpha Trains fleet of Vectron MS, AC and Vectron Dual Mode models.
The Vectrons will be manufactured at the Siemens Mobility plant in Munich-Allach.
“We are delighted to be increasing our fleet of Vectron locomotives yet again and to further strengthen our market position. There is a growing demand among our existing and new customers for efficient and state-of-the-art multisystem locomotives,” Fernando Pérez, Managing Director of the Locomotives Division of Alpha Trains said.
In September 2022, the European leasing company has ordered 15 Vectron MS locomotives and in February 2022, Alpha Trains signed a framework agreement for Vectron AC and Vectron Dual Mode locomotives. The Vectron AC locomotives can reach Scandinavia and the Vectron Dual Mode locomotives are designed for freight operations in Germany using 15 kV AC lines. Under electric traction, the locomotive has a maximum power of 2 MW and under diesel traction, the locomotive has a power output of 2,400 kW.
With this order, Alpha Trains provides its customers more than 80 Vectron locomotives and increases its locomotive fleet 478 and with homologations for 21 European countries.
