The Board of Directors of Adif AV has authorised the award of the contract for the execution of the telecommunications and energy systems on the Madrid-Seville high-speed line. The EUR 68.37 million contract is expected to be completed in 48 months.
The contract has been awarded to the Temporary Union of Companies (UTE) consortium made up of Sistemas y Montajes Industriales and Sistem Security Check.
The consortium will be responsible for the renovation of the facilities, increasing the capacity of the line, the improvement of the reliability of the facilities and the rationalisation and optimisation of rail operations according to the needs of the operators.
To carry out the project, the consortium will install new fiber optic cable along the entire route and will perform improvement activities of the power supply to signalling and communications equipment. The 750 volt alternating current power cable will be laid on both sides of the platform between Madrid and Seville, doubling the current supply. In addition, there will be the replacement of power panels, transformers, uninterruptible power supplies and batteries, among other facilities.
Madrid-Seville high-speed line was put into operation 30 years ago and continues to provide transport services at the same level of quality thanks to the application of a strict and rigorous maintenance plan during the three decades. Based on the life cycle of the elements, it has been considered necessary to carry out various tasks to improve the superstructure, which will guarantee that the line continues to offer in the future the high standards of reliability and comfort that it has been offered.
In this context, the deployment of the ERTMS Level 2 has been planned into two phases, covering the railway line between Madrid and Córdoba and between Córdoba and Seville. The deployment will be carried out in coordination with the installation of the GSM-R communication system, as well as with the construction project for the laying of fiber optic cables and for the installation of the 750 volt power lines.
The project will be supported by the European Union through the NextGenerationEU.
