Railpool Group will take over Hamburg-based locomotive maintenance company ajax Loktechnik GmbH starting March 1, 2021.
With the acquisition of the ajax Loktechnik, Railpool will benefit flexible mobile service and experience in heavy maintenance and the workshop in Hamburg.
Due to its location, the maintenance facility is predestined for operational maintenance services and is thus Railpool’s second workshop location at the important cargo rail hub of Hamburg. Both workshops will remain accessible to all customers and locomotives.
“Since its foundation, Railpool has been on a continuous growth journey. Continuity is also on top of our agenda when it comes to our full service competence, which builds the foundation of the value proposition to our customers. We are very pleased about the expanded operational maintenance capacity and the increase in qualified employees,” Torsten Lehnert, CEO of Railpool GmbH said.
ajax Loktechnik provides maintenance for locomotives as a full service and as an individual contract. ajax service is used for mainline locomotives in shuttle and spot traffic as well as for shunting locomotives. In addition to the light maintenance, the company has carried out more than 40 general inspections on various types of locomotive and at different locations, including abroad.
In 2017, the company started the construction of the locomotive workshop in Hamburg and one year later the facility was opened.
The company was established in 2010 by Jörn Bruhn and Maja Halver, which will remain associated with the company in an advisory role. “We are very glad that Maja Halver will continue supporting us as a consultant. She has built up ajax Loktechnik and is an important source of knowledge. Like us at Railpool, she is also a competent and passionate rail professional and we look forward to continuing our good cooperation,” Ingo Wurzer, CFO of Railpool said.
Christoph Engel, who manages Railpool Lokservice GmbH & Co KG, takes over the management of ajax Loktechnik GmbH from Maja Halver and Tim Müller, which bought shares in the company and became managing director in August 2018.
