RB Rail AS has announced a procurement of engineering services for preparation, procurement and supervision of Rail Baltica control-command and signalling (CCS) subsystems deployment.
The tender is organised as in a two-stage procedure with negotiations. The deadline for the first stage of the electronic application submission is 30 November 2020.
The scope of CCS-engineering services will include the preparation of specifications for procurement of the design and construction works, assistance during evaluation of the technical proposals, supervision of the design and construction works and supervision of testing and commissioning.
The control-command and signalling subsystems for the entire Rail Baltica project include all components necessary for putting the line in operations. They involve the traffic management system, interlocking and ETCS trackside systems, radio communication, transmission/ communication and power supply systems, as well as other supporting systems.
“CCS is a prerequisite for high-quality, effective and safe operations on our railway infrastructure for both passenger and freight traffic. Our plan is to ensure a single and interoperable CCS solution on the entire 870 km of Rail Baltica line. To master this engineering challenge, we are looking for a contractor with an experience in deployment of complex, interoperable and modern large-scale CCS solutions with technical know-how,” Kaido Zimmerman, RB Rail AS interim Chief Technical Officer, said.
Rail Baltica will be a conventional double-track electrified and ERTMS-equipped railway line with a maximum design speed of 249 km/h, designed for a maximum operational speed of 234 km/h. the new corridor will start from Tallin, through Pärnu – Rīga – Panevėžys – Kaunas to the Lithuanian-Polish border, with a connection from Kaunas to Vilnius. It is planned to complete the project in 2026.
The project is estimated at EUR 5.8 billion. The three Baltic states – Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and RB Rail have received three grants designed under the CEF for the construction of the Rail Baltica railway, having signed grant agreements to a total value of EUR 824 million.
