The first Dragon 2 electric locomotive has been handed over to Rail Capital Partners at Newag production plant in Nowy Sącz, in Lesser Poland Voivodeship.
Starting January 2021, Rail Capital Partners will have a fleet of five new six-axle Dragon 2 locomotives.
The next two ordered locomotives will be delivered to the leasing company in November, while the contract will be completed before the end of the year, ahead of the agreed schedule.
The procurement of these vehicles is in line with the development strategy of Rail Capital Partners, according to which the number of newly acquired locomotives will reach 50 in the next few years.
The Dragon 2 electric locomotive uses modern and reliable technologies and ensures high comfort for the driver. The main advantage of the Dragon 2 vehicle is its very high traction parameters, which, combined with the weight of the locomotive, an effective anti-skid system and drive on each axle, enables the haul of heavy freight trains.
In 2019, Newag and Rail Capital Partners signed a PLN 78 million (EUR 17.3 million) contract for the delivery of five such locomotives.
