India’s National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) held three online pre-bid meetings for the construction of 14 bridges in Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli which are part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad HSR tenders.
The main objective of the meetings was to clear the problems of the potential bidders before they submit their final bidding documents for the three tenders.
The online meetings were held for the next three Mumbai-Ahmedabad HSR tenders which includes the construction of a bridge between Zaroli Village at Maharashtra-Gujarat Border and Vadodara, in the state of Gujarat and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The second tender envisages a new bridge between Vadodara and Ahmedabad, while the third tender consists of procurement, fabrication, check-assembly, painting at workshops and transport to various bridge sites of steel truss superstructures.
Despite the lockdown, NHSRCL is working online to ensure that the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed rail project is being carried out without delays, from tenders to progress monitoring of the project.
In 2019, NHRSCL has launched a tender for the design and construction of civil and building for a 237-km section of the high-speed railway line. The tender also included testing and commissioning for viaducts, bridges, maintenance depots and stations along the section.
In November, NHSRCL awarded the contract for the design and construction of Sabarmati terminal, facilitating transport connection with Ahmedabad metro and bus rapid transit system.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail line will have a total length of 508 km served by 12 stations, linking Sabarmati transport hub, in Gujarat, with Budra Kurla Complex, in Mumbai. The distance between the two destinations will be covered within 2 hours with trains running at speeds of 320 km/h.
According to NHSRCL analysis, 17,900 passengers per day per direction will initially use the new transport services. By 2053, the company says that the daily ridership will increase to almost 93,000 passengers.
