11 candidates from 8 countries have been qualified in the second stage of the tender on the construction of Rail Baltica Riga airport station and its related infrastructure. Under the second stage of the process, the companies will submit by August 3 a technical and financial offer to Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas, the Rail Baltica project implementer in Latvia.
“Professionally prepared applications have been submitted, which has allowed all 11 candidates to qualify for the second stage of the tender. This gives us the confidence that a high level of competition will be ensured, as a result of which the submitted technical and financial offers will be competitive, and we will be able to choose not only the best, but also the most cost-effective construction offer,” said Kaspars Vingris, Chairman of the Board of Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas.
The contract is expected to be signed by the end of 2020 and start the construction works in 2021. The construction contract is estimated between EUR 250-280 million.
