CINEA, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, has received 447 project proposals requesting almost EUR 14.5 billion co-funding by the 19 January 2022, the deadline of the 2021 CEF Transport call.
The call for proposals published in September 2021, had a total budget of EUR 7 billion to support the projects under the general, Cohesion and Military Mobility envelopes on a wide variety of topics and priorities.
On the on the Core Network 208 proposals were submitted requesting a EUR 11.48 billion co-financing. This envelope has the largest available budget worth EUR 3.62 billion.
CINEA received 39 proposals for the Comprehensive network with a EUR 730 million financing request. EUR 600 million is the available funding under 2021 CEF Transport call.
To adapt the TEN-T to civilian-defence dual use, 26 proposals requested EUR 417.1 million co-financing surpassing the EUR 330 million available budget.
102 proposals were submitted for smart and interoperable mobility requesting a EUR 1.37 billion CEF funding. EUR 550 million is the available financing for the projects on this subsector.
For sustainable and multimodal mobility CINEA received 16 proposals totalling a EUR 70.6 million funding request, which, if eligible, can receive the co-financing as the budget for these actions worth EUR 125 million.
For the safe and secure mobility segment, the 34 proposals also surpassed the EUR 250 million available funding. All these proposals requested EUR 255.7 million co-financing.
A total of 22 proposals were also submitted for the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility requesting EUR 131.5 million. This envelop benefits the second largest co-financing available funding, worth EUR 1.57 billion.
The admissibility and eligibility of the proposals will be checked and the proposals will then be evaluated against the specific award criteria of the call. The entire evaluation process is expected to be concluded by the end of June 2022, when CINEA will announce the results.
Under the 2021-2027 long-term budget, EU 25.8 billion is the CEF Transport budget which will support the infrastructure projects across the EU. A EUR 11.29 billion will be earmarked for Cohesion states and EUR 1.69 billion is the budget for infrastructure project to meet both civilian and military mobility needs.
