From 31 December 2016 until 8 January 2017, about one million passengers were transported by Moscow Central Ring’s fast trains, said Deputy Moscow Mayor for Transport Maxim Liksutov. “Lastochka trains carried up to 130,000 people each day, even with the subzero temperatures at the end of the holiday,” he added.
The MCC opened on 10 September 2016 reducing the passenger pressure on many metro lines, especially the Circle Line, by over 15 percent; and congestion at the main railway stations dropped by 20 percent.
The Moscow Central Ring, formerly the Smaller Ring of the Moscow Railway, is 54 km long.
