Swedish logistics company Green Cargo may soon join container train project Viking. The company has already filled in the application to join the project, according to Rima Terminaite, Director of the Lithuanian Railways’ freight forwarding department. Representatives of the Lithuanian Railways’ freight forwarding department also held a meeting with Swedish companies interested in moving cellulose from factories currently under construction in Belarus.
In Finland, meetings were held with local companies engaged in timber, paper and cellulose export which could use the Viking container train to ship their goods to Turkey. Details are being harmonised with Finnish company Steveco regarding test runs of the Viking train to Turkey. It is thought that the first journey could take place already in September 2015.
