The construction of the Rowsley Crossing Loop on Victoria’s Ballarat line is now completed and will be operational later this month allowing trains to make up time on disrupted services. The USD 14 million project involves the duplication of a 1 km section of track on the Ballarat line giving trains the flexibility to overtake one another.
This project will support future improvements along the Ballarat line, providing more punctual and reliable services over time.
The construction of the new Rowsley Crossing Loop has reduced the distance between existing crossing loops on the Ballarat line, at Parwan and Bank Box, providing further flexibility for trains to pass each other between these points.
The Victorian Government has invested an additional USD 518 million in the 2016-17 State Budget to deliver further upgrades in the Ballarat corridor increasing reliability and the number of services to and from Ballarat.
