United Wagon Company presented its “specially-built” articulated flat car for heavyweight containers for the 1435mm track gauge.
The car is manufactured by Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant and was developed by the All-Union Research.
UWC says that the flat car meets the requirements of TSI – EU Technical Specification No. 321/2013. It is equipped with hinged container twist locks compliant with European standards to accommodate containers in various combinations such as two 40-foot containers or four 20-foot containers.
It is important that in August, United Wagon Company passed a quality audit held by Deutsche Bahn and was awarded as awarded Q2 supplier status based on the audit results. This allows UWC to supply freight cars to DB.
The 80-foot flat car has a payload capacity of up to 107.5 tonnes, which allows it to transport various ISO containers, tank containers and swap bodies with a gross mass of up to 36 tonnes. The articulated flat car is fitted with bogies with an axle load of 22.5 t and a maximum speed of 120 km/h.
