Since the beginning of 2016, the United Transport & Logistics Company (UTLC) has dispatched 500 container trains between China and Europe.
The 500th train left Chongqing in south-west China for Duisburg in Germany on 23 July 2016 and consisted of fifty 40-foot containers.
Container trains operated by the United Transport & Logistics Company travel along the 1520 mm broad gauge track along the route Dostyk/Altynkol – Brest – Dostyk/Altynkol, covering the distance of 5,430 km in 5.5 days. The international route proceeds “without borders” by virtue of a single customs agreement and the public through rate.
The United Transport & Logistics Company Home began its service in February 2015, when the first container train departed.
Since the launch of the integrated service, more than 90,000 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Container Units (TEU) have been dispatched.
During 2015, the UTLC dispatched 47,000 TEUs, but by the end of 2016 is planned to send more than 85,000 TEUs.
Thus, in the eighteen months since the the company has been operating, traffic volume has nearly doubled.
