Queensland Government has committed AUD 800 million (USD 597 million) for the construction of Cross River Rail in Brisbane. Under the project, a 10 km line will be constructed to link Dutton Park and Bowen Hills, and 5.9 km of tunnel under the Brisbane River and CBD. This second rail river crossing will ease congestion, improve network reliability and increase accessibility to the Brisbane CBD, allowing more people to travel longer distances, with shorter journey times.
The total value of the project is AUD 5.4 billion (USD 4 billion).
