Ukraine, the second European coal exporter, plans to import more coal from Poland. This is the result of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and war in the Donetsk region – the Ukrainian prevalent coal hub.
Numerous Ukrainian companies have expressed desire to import coal from Poland. Polish coal forwarders and providers, such as Węglokoks or Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka, see in this the opportunity to accelerate Polish economy.
According to a report from the Ministry of Economy, in H1 of 2014 exports was 26 percent worse than in H1 of 2013 and amounted to 4.3 million metric tons.
