Siemens has delivered to Alpha Trains the first of ten new Vectron locomotives that went directly to their lessee, TX Logistik AG. With this investment, Alpha Trains expands its portfolio, thus consolidating its relevant market position.
With up to 160 km/h and an output of 6,400 kW, the Vectron MS is used to transport goods on the return route between Germany, Austria and Italy. To perform the cross-border traffic, the locomotives are equipped with both country-specific transaction and train control systems and the European Train Control System (ETCS).
“TX and Alpha are strong and powerful partners. We both strive for true efficiency in freight transport. The use of the new locomotives with the latest technology constitutes a strong competitive edge for TX Logistik,” Fernando Pérez, managing director of Alpha Trains Locomotives Division said.
Eight further Vectron MS will be delivered in three phases in 2017. These will also go into operation with TX Logistik.
