Tver Carriage Works, part of Transmashholding, has fulfilled a contract for the delivery of 45 passenger coaches to private operators in Kazakhstan. This is the first time that private operators have become the customers of the rolling stock.
The government of the Republic of Kazakhstan became the driving force in the renewal of the rolling stock used by private passenger transport operators. It proposed to the operators to participate in the tender for the operation of social routes subsidized by the state, but required a high quality of services by, among other, upgrading the rolling stock.
Following the tender, at the end of 2016, the social routes were distributed between the national operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and several private companies, some of which applied for the purchase of new coaches from Transmashholding (operating companies Turksib Astana LLP and Arlan-Trans-Astana LLP).
Deals were signed between the Russian Export Center, Roseximbank and BRK-Leasing (Kazakhstan), under which Tver Carriage Works manufactured and supplied to the customers 39 couchette coaches (model 61-4447.02) and 6 compartment coaches (series 61-4440). All delivered rolling stock is designed for operation at a speed of 160 km/h with a life cycle of 40 years.
The coaches are equipped with air conditioning systems, water disinfection systems, outlets for recharging electronic devices for each seat, and advanced control panels, developed on the basis of a modern monitoring and diagnostic system.
