Trenitalia has selected Alstom and Hitachi Rail Italy for the EUR 4.5 billion contract for the supply of 450 regional trains.
Under the contract, for the Lot 1, Alstom will supply 150 trains with minimum 200 seats; for Lot 2, Hitachi Rail Italy will have to deliver 300 trains with a high capacity (minimum 450 seats). For the supply of diesel trains, under the Lot 3, Trenitalia has selected Stadler, but the offer is still under evaluation.
6 companies have submitted their offer: Alstom, Bombardier, Caf, Hyundai, Hitachi Rail Italy and Stadler.
