Adif AV has launched a tender to start laying the track on the 60 km section between Murcia and Lorca part of Murcia – Almería HSR worth EUR 57.1 million.
The project includes the deployment of track on the 57.5 km section of the high-speed line between the end of the integration in Nonduermas and the Lorca station, for EUR 44.2 million. This amount does not include the supply of the elements that make up the tracks such as the ballast, sleepers, rail and turnouts, already contracted by Adif.
It also includes the construction of a maintenance facility from which the corresponding track laying works will be carried out on the second section of the line, Lorca – Almería, which is being put out to tender for EUR 12.9 million. The facility will have lane storage areas and detours, and six roads.
Adif continues to advance work on the development of the Murcia – Almería HSR while advancing in the construction of the line platform, which has all sections completed or under construction. In addition, electrification is already underway in the Murcia – Lorca section and in the project for the Lorca – Almería section.
In fact, the construction of the platform section on the 8.9 km Nonduermas – Sangonera section was recently completed, which includes the urban integration tunnel in Alcantarilla, the new commuter station in this city and the Rambla de las Salinas viaduct.
Regarding track assembly, in addition to having already contracted the supply of all the track elements, it is also advancing in the construction of the Librilla assembly base, from which this track deployment between Murcia and Lorca will be undertaken, and in the drafting of the project for the track assembly work on the Lorca – Almería section.
Relating to the rest of the systems and equipment, Adif AV has contracted the deployment of the most advanced signalling system in the world, ERTMS L2, and the latest generation GSM-R mobile communications system along the entire line.
The 200 km Murcia – Almería HSR is a strategic connection on the Mediterranean Corridor, with an investment of EUR 3.5 billion, which will constitute the first railway connection between both capitals.
The new line, in addition to being a connecting link and gateway to the corridor with the south, will integrate Almería into the high-speed network through the Levante Corridor, and into the European networks, favouring the structuring and cohesion of territories.
