Toulouse, France, has announced the route that its third metro line will cross the city from west to east and will be completed in 2024.
The entire length of the new line will be 21 km and it will have its two termini at major industrial areas on the city’s periphery. It will also cross the city centre and intersect both of Toulouse’s existing metro lines.
The expected cost of constructing the line is estimated at EUR 1.72 billion, making it the largest transport investment in France outside Paris, according to Toulouse’s transport authority, SMTC. Studies will now taken place to define the route of the line, which would then be open to consultation and a public inquiry between 2018 and 2019. Construction will take place from 2019 to 2024.
