Metrolinx has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for an experienced operator for the GO Regional Express Rail (RER). The operator is slated to help Metrolinx finalize its plans and accelerate the safe construction and implementation of Metrolinx RER.
Once in place, the operator will help make the RER system better for commuters by finding ways to further reduce commute times, while also ensuring Metrolinx is properly building critical infrastructure that will enable GO RER. The operator is expected to eventually take over rail operations. Existing operations and the maintenance contract with Bombardier will remain in place until the end of the contract in 2023.
