Helsinki City Transport HKL announced that three consortia are prequalified for tendering the design and construction of Raide-Jokeri LRT project.
The three consortia are:
– The Täyskäsi association formed by Destia, A-Insinöörit Suunnittelu, Saanio & Riekkola, Finnmap Infra, Sweco Rakennetekniikka, Sweco Ympäristö and Arkkitehtitoimisto CJN;
– The Raideri association formed by Pöyry Finland, WSP Finland and Ratatek;
– A consortium comprising in VR Track, Sito and Ramboll Finland;
The prequalified companies must submit their offer until June 5, 2017. The decision on the selection of the winner of the contract will be announced by the end of October.
The Raide-Jokeri LRT will link the cities of Helsinki and Espoo, in Finland and will be an east-west link between Itäkeskus (eastern Helsinki) and Keilaniemi (Espoo). The line will replace the current bus line 550 in the early 2020s. The length of the line is 25 km, of which 16 km will be in Helsinki and the remaining 9 km in neighbouring Espoo. The line will have 33 stops.
The total value of the project is EUR 460 million and in February 2017, the European Investment Bank announced that will evaluate the project and it has proposed a EUR 200 million financing.
At the end of November the Executive Board of Helsinki City Transport decided to authorize Helsinki City Transport (HKL) to order from Transtech Oy 29 light-rail cars, each of them 35 metres long and operable in two directions, for the future Raide-Jokeri light-rail fleet.
According to the preliminary schedule, Raide-Jokeri could start operating in 2021.
